I deleted std.vcf and renamed std.vcf_1 to std.vcf but still got
the same error. Should I delete all the .vcf_nn files as well, and
rename std.vcfcMzGQa.new to std.vcf?

I would move them in another directory and copy back one at the time
as std.vcf .

That would be my recommendation, too, Bob.

Sorry, chaps, didn't work. Even starting KAddressBook with no std.vcf
file generates the error message, a new, empty std.vcf file being
created. The error message pops up 3 times on starting the app, as the
data appears to be loading. Having dismissed the error dialogues, it
recurs on closing the app.

Many thanks for your interest

Does this tells anything?

I'm not kdepim user, so I have too look around.

Yessss! For some reason I had egroupware ticked as an addressbook resource.
Unticking it sorted out the error messages, and the ability to edit entries.

Thank you, and Happy New Year.
