When I open the KAddressbook browser I get the following error message:

I'm unable to edit individual records, and the program freezes (unresponsive to buttons/menus being clicked). Can anyone suggest an easy fix? I don't really want to delete my address book data and start again :(
Go to the kabc directory. On my system it's in /home/rsmits/.kde/share/apps/kabc and you will find a number of files ending in .vcf. Delete or rename std.vcf, and then take the latest .vcf file and rename it to std.vcf. Now restart your kaddressbook program (or kontact) and you should find all your addresses back.
I have about 20 std files, one has the extension .vcf, the rest .vcf_nn, all with a modification date 26/12/2007. There is also one named std.vcfcMzGQa.new dated 17/12/2007 I deleted std.vcf and renamed std.vcf_1 to std.vcf but still got the same error. Should I delete all the .vcf_nn files as well, and rename std.vcfcMzGQa.new to std.vcf? -- Bob openSUSE 10.3, Kernel 2.6.22.13-0.3-default, KDE 3.5.8 Intel Celeron 2.53GB, 2GB DDR RAM, nVidia GeForce 7600GS --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
