[opensuse-kde] KDE 3.5.8 from 10.2 buildtree: kwallet and other programs waiting for input hang

After upgrading to kde 3.5.8 from the buildtree, kde is not usable
anymore, since any program waiting for keyboard input stops reacting.
looks as if the qt input module for scim is seriously broken.
Any advice?
