Hello Livio, Bob.
I'm a long time user of Kmail too and since I'm one of those kind of guys who
like to keep mail (currently I have approx. 1,000,000 ~ 13GB space), I have
been always taken the mail upgrade process top priority issue.
About the mailbox mails you have, Kmail can import them OK into maildir. Use
the Import menu, and then select the mbox (Unix, Evolution) option. It's near
the bottom of the selection.
