Ok, so T'bird works without problems then, so you know at this point 
there is a problem in Kmail causing the deletion.  Have you changed the 
settings of kmail back to the default settings to see if it clears up 
the problem.  You'll only be able to locate what's wrong by doing a bit 
of testing now.  Is this a POP server or IMAP setup you have for email?

Ok, renaming or removing your present KMail config file or directory 
will set everything back to a new setup.  In this manner, you'll be 
able to test the fact that one of your settings is wrong for this 
account.  I know you can set a filter to remove emails from the server 
without downloading, but it seems odd you would do that for all mails.

If you knew the Amiga, you would understand better what I'm talking 
about.  The email program allowed you to download only the headers of 
the emails, thus allowing you to see what was on the server before 
actually downloading the mails.  You could then choose to delete the 
email from the server rather than download the mail.  Very handy
