artsd failure

Hi, I'm running KDE 3.5.3 on a SUSE 9.3 box. Everytime I log in I've got 2 running arts daemons, and if I have a look in my .xsession-errors file I get the error that an artsd is already running blablablah.... Is it possible to disable artsd entirely? And what is the result? AFAIK all KDE notifications will be disabled... or not? Regards Harry
