Music playing problems

Hello SuSE people,
Very recently upgraded 9.2 to 10.0. Playing music in xmms, amarok, etc.
worked well before the upgrade. That included any CD popped into the player
and any and all mp3s on the hard drive.
Now when I put in a music CD I get some kde daemon that asks me if I want to
open it in kscd. I can reply "yes" and it does not play. I can open either
amarok or xmms and try to load either with a playlist which does not work. No
playlist is loaded.
Any clues/hints as to what is going on here??
