Hi Ed,
I had the same problem with a PC like yours. M/B ASRock P4S61 with a Celeron 2400 processor (40Gb HD & 1Gb RAM).
Have your motherboard an on-board VGA? I solved the problem with a AGP VGA card (an old one, nVidia MX100). I had the problem that I can't switch between users in the X system (GUI), too.
I look the same problem in an other PC that has a M/B with on-board VGA. It seems that there is a SuSE problem with on-board VGA, because on both system I can run Knoppix 4.0 and Mandriva 2006 without any problem...

hi mates,

i;m running suse10.0 and with the kde that came with it.3.4.2 level b
on a p4 with 122gb hd and 1gb memory.

when i try to run the screensaver in random, it only reflects a single
screensaver and then goes blank. that's not too awful bad, but i have
noticed that the screen will go black and not come back, by depressing
another key. i thought i had a monitor going bad on me, but i shut the
screensaver deamon down, and no longer have a problem with the
monitor going black.

i seem to remember other comments about problems with the screensaver.
but nothing definitive.

Peace...............ed
