Hi, I am using YAST to connect an old EPSON LQ-500 printer to my PC. This printer has a needle printing head. It works with this ESC/P printer language. I intend to use it only to edit text. The connection works fine and I manage to get the test page issued on paper with no trouble. However when printing an e-mail message for instance, the printed characters are not in the 'roman', 'sans serif', 'slot' or 'draft' fonts my printer offers by pressing option buttons on this device. They come in an exotic 'shadow' style. It makes it rather hard to read. The only thing I know is that somewhere if I could drive this command ESC &, I might give my printer the right to print accordingly to the 'r', 'ss', 'sl', 'd' options it offers. Watch out ! I am a newbie. I guess I may not be able to activate this thing outside the YAST options. Tks in advance. JP. Using Linux pro 9.3. My Pc is a Compaq Deskpro. -- Libérez vos bits.
