No screensavers anymore after update to KDE 3.4.2

HI! After updating my Suse 9.2 from KDE 3.4.1 to 3.4.2, one of the users (only this one) has an empty list of screensavers. It still works OK for other users! I tried to rename .kde with no positive effect. Out of the blue, I restored a Suse 9.0 user directory from that user and started with that and the screensavers where there again! Then, with the 9.2 user directory, they were there, too. After working for a few days, the list of screensavers is empty again for that user. What can that be? Thanks! Thomas

Hi Joel, Thank you for the answer, but maybe I was not very clean in my ask: I can manually mount and read/write to the floppy (umount, too) but my GUI doesn't mount it for me! How to explain KDE to do it for me when I open the floppy from the icon I have on my GUI? I can't access to floppy disk from the icon in my system

Hi all, running SuSE 9.3 I can access to floppy disk (/media/floppy) from a terminal but not from GUI (KDE 3.4.0 level "b"). As I click on the floppy disk icon a message box appear: "The process for the protocol media is unespectly dead" or something like this (I've an italian installation) and the system isn't able to mount the floppy. If I access the /media/floppy with the konqueror browser all work fine, too. Any ideas? Stefano

Running KDE 3.43 on SUSE 10.0. I tried accessing the help files for KwikDisk and am shown the help for KDiskFree. How do I fix this? Where do I access the KwikDisk docs? Thanks. Shriramana.

Problems with Juk

Anyone else running into problems with Juk? If I try and play anything, the title shows up as if the song is playing, but no sound, no anything. The progress bar never moves. I first noticed this on Monday. I am using BMP at the moment, so I know that sound works. I understand that there are numerous problems with Amarok as well. Did a recent update break KDE's music players? Thanks in advance.

Hi Alvin, I solved my problem! When I create the user I copied the .kde folder from another user (to have the same settings) and I found that in a file was written the directory of the previous user, so the changes was made for the other user ;-) Thank you all 4 your kind help! *One* menu without "ReduceMenuDepth"

Under SuSE 9.2/KDE 3.3.2 Level "a", by default, Kicker's parameter "ReduceMenuDepth" is set to true. This means that sub menus in the K menu are not shown if they only have one entry. Now, we'd like to have the parameter "ReduceMenuDepth" set to "false" for just one menu and its sub menus. Is this possible? If not, is it possible to add invisible dummy entries to a menu? If all else fails, are there any alternative menu applets that we could use? Note: All we want is to create a customized menu that is accessible from kicker. No HAL Support in KDE-3.4.3 for OSS-10.0

Hello List, since i upgradet to KDE-3.4.3 on OpenSuSE-10.0 I have a strange Problem with HAL. It looks like KDE was build without HAL Support. When i plugIn my USB HardDrive nothing is shown up on the Desktop. When i enter a DVD the DVD is shown up, but only as "DVD(/dev/hdd)", not with it Name... So everthing what is in the fstab becomes a desktop Icon, everthing what´s not in the fstab, but was mountet by HAL/subfs into /media, becomes no Icon. So the Question is if anybody knows which Package is responsible for HAL support, and how do i have to modify the spec to have HAL support. Thanks Michael

Want to test KDE 3.5b2 - how to revert to KDE 3.43 later?

The subject says it all I guess. I want to test KDE 3.5b2, but if I have a problem I would like to return to KDE 3.43. I know that YaST detects the prescence of newer versions of packages and hence I can use "Update all in this list when a new version is available" but I am not sure this will work in the reverse direction - tell me when an *older* version is available. Can anyone give me a set of instructions to "safely" test 3.5b2? Thanks. Shriramana.

Adding blank-username dial-up provider???

Hi, How can I add a dial-up provider that has a blank username and password in SuSE 10. Since my dial up internet connection provider bills the phone line that you connect from. YaST2 won't accept entering a blank username. I did edit the file /etc/sysconfig/netwrok/providers/provider0 but the Kinternet won't work this way.
