When adding a new printer (paralell port), although the correct printer name is shown under "paralell port", nothing gets printed (no test pages, nothing...). Same problem under "SimpliMepis" instead of SUSE 9.3. Does anybody have an idea?
Hi! The fact that both distribution have the problem suggest its hardware, not software. This is what I would do: - read /var/log/dmesg and /var/log/messages to see if there are any error messages - check in the BIOS that parallell is not deactivated - check the address of the port is correct (could it be lpt2?) - check that the cable is OK - check that the printer works on any other computer You don't say what the first distro is. Assuming you're using CUPS, how do you set it up? Tried you browser with localhost:631? Thierry -- The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? Frank Zappa
