hi frits, thx! for the reply =)
after a recent update to latest KDE beta (from component: kde-unstable) i've lost the ability to type any keystrokes when auto-logged-in.

See the thread "kde-3.4 beta startup problem" for more info.
aha, thx! i'm not alone. and, it seems like some 'more knowledgeable folks are dealing with the issue. great.
As a solution, switch over to GDM instead of KDM as your window manager. Then you will be able to use your keyboard again.
for now, the login to console then starx approach is good enuf 4 me, and everything works after that. knowing that it's not an issue _just_ with my system is helpful. now that i'm susbscribed, i'll just keep an eye on the prior thread. thank you! cheers, richard
