Refreshing desktop

After copying a file to ~/Desktop using shell cp command, or moving
it, renaming, whatever, KDE desktop doesn't reflect the changes. I
recently switched from Mandrake to SuSE and I really miss that
feature. I believe Mdk uses some file change listener daemon, I cannot
remember how it's called right now. Is there anything similar for SuSE
(9.2)? I see fam daemon installed but there's no script in /etc/init.d
to start it at boot.
