Is your local domain <something>.local? If so it could be due to multicast DNS which I think is used by default when doing lookups on a domain that ends in .local. I saw that in 9.1 Suse does that which makes it very dificult for me to use at work as we have <something>.local
Anyone know how to turn this off?

Hi,
I have just installed SuSE 9.2 and it has been a reasonable experience so far. I have come across one issue with kmail. For some reason kmail and kbiff will not accept fully qualified host names for my local network. They will work fine with ip addresses but not domain names.
This used to work with my SuSE 8.1 / KDE 3.0.4 environment fine. I feel like I have missed something obvious but can't seem to put my finder on it.
Any pointers welcome.
Good pick it I have a setup using .local as domain name i.e. hostname.local. -- Jim Hamilton Perth, Western Australia
