Ah, okay. Yes KNode was marked. I unmarked it but Kontact still crashes. Even if I click on my calendar or to-do list Kontact crashes.
I had a similar problem with SuSE 9.1 & KDE 3.3.1 just before I installed SuSE 9.2. I used the settings from my old .kde so as to save the hassles of configuring kmail and other programs.
The problem occurred again with Kontact crashing on SuSE 9.2. I can't remember the solution I eventually used to resolve the problem. But I think I used either the original kaddressbookrc or kontactrc file of the SuSE 9.2 install to fix the problem.
So I suggest that you create a new user and login as that user. Then log in as yourself and backup your ~/.kde directory. Then try using the various defaults from the new user to replace your original configuration files associated with contact one at a time, testing kontact each time to see which file resolves the problem. You use your backup of ~./kde to restore your original settings.
Its a bit of a pain but you should be able resolve the problem using the above method. Best of luck.
This is good advice, and could be one of my next steps. ;) But I wonder: does starting Kontact from a command prompt (konsole or xterm) reveal any error messages? Maybe there is a clue about what application causes the crash? Cheers, Leen
