Are'nt we talking about Ximian? This is very much a Gnome based desktop. I think is is a very good one too. I hope Suse keep helping to maintaining KDE because I find it much easier to use it to aid the migration from Windows. Simple things like a default start menu at bottom left helps the cause. It would be a brave move for Novell to drop KDE especially as all the other distributions have KDE - even fedora...massive corporations like Novell are not know for being brave!
