OK, I was talking about 9.1, where X doesn't listen to the net. In that case the two are identical. With tcp turned on I agree that "xhost +" is considerably worse
... if this is true then there's only one alternative: Download it, disconnect from the net, install it and then reconnect to the net. :-)
