KDE TV apps/Pinnacle PCTV

Hi, since moving to Suse 9.1 Pro from Gentoo (bored of dealing with
etc-update Hell) I have only one major problem.
I have a Pinnacle TV card (can't remember the model, BT878 chip though)
and none of the KDE TV apps work properly. Picture is fine but the sound
is just white noise. The sound output from the card runs into the line in
on the onboard sound (SIS 7012) and worked fine under Gentoo but no matter
what I fiddle with I cannot make it work in Suse 9.1 Pro.
I've verified it as working with WinXP (gotta be able to play GTA:VC) so
it's definitely a config problem but I have no idea what.
I have searched and found several other similar reports from Suse users
round the net but as yet none of them had a reply with a solution.
Anyone any ideas?
