Hi all, this is maybe a bit OT, but I'm not sure, any help would be appreciated. I have SuSE 8.1 with KDE 3.2.1. Recently I have done an upgrade of GLIB/GTK (with the sources from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.4 as there are no newer SuSE RPM's for 8.1). Since then I have a problem with Opera which does no longer display german umlauts or special characters, but only in the web pages. Characters like these are fine in opera menus etc. You may wonder why I post this here and not on the opera mailing list? Because I think it might have to do with qt which is used by opera, just like KDE does. As a side note, konqueror does not have this problem. I further noticed that some pages with such characters are fine. The difference is that an "ä" is not displayed, while "ä" is displayed correctly as "ä". But there are a lot of german webpages which just use "ä" in the html code... Does anyone have a hint what can cause such a problem? How can a GTK update cause a problem with an application which does not use it? Mario
