There is an option which tells Konqueror for which protocols the preview 
should be used. In the german version you find this at: Einstellungen / 
Konqueror einrichten. There is an icon-bar on the left side and the 3rd 
is called "Vorschauen & Metadaten". If you select this icon, you will 
get a selection, where you can choose the protocols. Maybe the "local" 
protocols are not chosen?
