I have a small problem with the bootup sequence of KDE. I'm running a usual standard SuSE 9.0 installation with all relevant patches. When the system boots into the KDE GUI and I login as a normal user I get a message box which states
"Das Programm krandinithack (krandinithack) ist abgestürzt und hat das Singal 11 (sigsegv) veranlaßt"
If on the opposite I login as root this doesn't happen (yep, I know, I shouldn't log into the GUI as root. This was just for test purposes). Everything else runs vanilla as far as I can see. As it doesn't happen as root, I guess I have a problem with the proper user rights? Or maybe some files are missing in ~? Any guess what to do? And what at all is/does krandinithack? I couldn't find any information on the net, though I must admit I didn't try to dig too deep, just googled for krandinithack with no hits at all resulting.
Are you sure you have not been cracked? Try looking for that file on your system and if you find it, do a
rpm -qf /path-where-it-is/krandinithack
to see what it belongs to.
I don't think his machine has been compromised, please be careful with such comments! On my SuSE 9 I have a library called krandrinithack(.so,.la) (in/opt/kde3/lib/) belonging to the package kdebase3-3.1.4-48. I assume that you meant krandrinithack and not krandinithack. This library seems to be used to allow resizing and reorienting of the X screen but I am not 100% sure. Using google I found one thread[1] on a forum that looked interesting. Maybe this helps. All the best, Frank [1] http://www.nickles.de/c/a/forum2-537568139.htm P.S.: This thread[1] is in german. If you need a translation let me know. From the error message you posted I assume you understand german.
