Hi list !
I've done it ... upgraded to Kde 3.2.0 on my standard Suse 8.1 box. It is really a pretty standard box with XFree-4.2.0, Freetype2-2.0.9 .
The more I was asthonished about the many unresolved deps when trying to install the rpms. But ignoring and using some tricks (and even seg faults) I could overcome those issues and whoop - the new KDE started.
HOWEVER:
- the rpms are built against libstdc++.so.5: version `GLIBCPP_3.2.2', which means, that several programmes such as juk, k3b are not starting ! That's annoying...
To resolve this issue, run Yast Online Update, and update GCC and all its packages up to v3.2.2 -- that will resolve it.
k3b will work, but it wont be able to create iso's for burning on the fly -- to fix it update up to v 0.11.1manually.
Thanks al lot, now it runs smoothly. Got both the kmail and k3b update. Udo
