Thanks for your comments.

I've just tried "export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3" but I still get the same error
message. I've got the latest version of qt3 (3.3.0) and I always run
SuSEconfig after updating any software. I've tried a number of configure
options but so far they make no difference however, I agree it is probably
just a matter of hitting on the right one the question is: which one?. If qt3
is installed properly, which I think it is, then shouldn't configure be able
to find it by default?

Any other ideas?
