Well, i think i was a bit fast with my joy. I can modify th fonts with the gnome2 control-centre. But after starting gnome-settings-daemon even the background of my desktop was put to the gnome-configuration :-(
About 10% of those of us who are using the Gnome2 settings daemon have seen this behavior. It has something to do with Nautilus drawing the background and it can be turned off, but since it's not happned to me ..I don't remember how to fix it ..ie what to turn off. You might post this to the SuSE Linux English list.
