I thought when I restarted KMail that the new Kontact screen would come up, but that was not the case as each program is still individual.
Kontact, like Koffice, is actually just a shell for the individual programs.
Still can't print, so unsure where that is coming from at the moment. I will continue to research that problem as I get time.
(1) Can you print from other KDE apps? (2) What does the backtrace say? (3) What error are you getting in the console if you start kprinter for an Xterm to print sometime?
I did try to start Kontact though from the shell and get a window, but an error also. kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype Kontact/Plugin not found
Of course, this apparently prevents me from using Kontact as there are no selections available from the menus in Kontact's window. Any thoughts on this problem?
Two things:
(1) Make sure you run ldconfig
(2) Get out of X and delete the directory:
/tmp/kde-
I may have to break down and learn CVS though as the new stuff is so much better, just have to compile my own for it though. :o)
Be warned though, the CVS version can be unstable and might not even build depending on the changes.
