Linux is, different from windows, a true multiuser and multithreaded operating system. The vnc server on linux is indeed a very own X server which starts a very own X session when you kick it on. You can even use VNC on a linux-box without any graphic card, monitor, etc. There seems to be some sort of hack to vnc that does that. See VNC FAQ entry 22: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/faq.html#q22 But if you are using kde 3.0 or 3.1 you have a built in vnc server that exports the running session to the X protocol. In KDE 3.1 it's built in, in 3.0 you can build and install those programs. http://www.tjansen.de/krfb/ Greets, Daniel Am Donnerstag, 6. März 2003 22:30 schrieb Eric Carbone:
I'm going crazy here!
I have VNC running on Mac OS X I have VNC running on Windows XP I have VNC running on ReHat linux
From the linux or win xp machine I can SEE and interact with the OX X desktop. If I move the mouse I can look over at the os x screen and see the 'remote control' in action.
Same thing with the linux and the os x machine ... I can control the win xp machine.
But I CANNOT figure out how to connect to (and CONTROL) the linux box (running RedHat 8/bluecurve ... or Gnome ... whatever they call it)
I am able to connect to the linux machine through vnc but I see a totally different desktop!
I want to see exactly what's on the linux screen and interact with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
