KMix in panel only reacts on every second klick

Hello everybody,
In my new KDE 3.1 I configured KMix to dock to the panel. From there I
formerly (KDE 3.0.4 and before) could change the volume by klicking on it.
With the new version of KDE in place KMix's volume control now only open every
other mouse klick. I did not find any configuration of that behaviour within
KMix.
Does anybody know what causes that behaviour and where I can change it back?
