Hi Frank,
i guess the cause is the missing translation file for kde 3.1?
Well, where can I get it from?
start any more, although i updated it to 0.51 when it started sigserving at start.
i have made the experience that many programs (after similiar errors) have to be recompiled with KDE 3.1/QT 3.11 to work properly.
It just seems strange that apps that come in the RPMs with kde 3.1 crash immediately upon call (e.g. kopete 0.51).
Bye Jochen Hi,
I don't know where the new locale files are. It appears SuSE did not produce any with the initial release. If any body knows where they can be downloaded from I would be interested. Regarding the crashes you are having, have you tried running the command from the command line in an xterm. You generally get reasonable error messages which indicate where the problem is. Also after you did the update did you remove the /tmp/kde-<username> /tmp/ksocket-<username> /tmp/mcop-<username> ~/.mcop ( for each user) directories before restarting kde. If not I suggest you exit kde and remove them, they will be recreated again on restart of kde. They can cause a number of problems and crashes if they are not updated. There is another problem with konqueror which can cause it to crash when run as root (Super User). The only way I have found to resolve the problem is to turn off the preview of "files", which is by default turned on. Settings ---> Configure Konqueror --> Previews -->file (disable) or via the Control Centre when logged in as root. KDE Components ---> File Manager ---> Previews ---> file -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
