Of course you have to compile the 1.12 beta 
(http://krusader.sourceforge.net/dev/krusader-1.12-beta1.tar.gz)
because only that version copies the files into the mentioned directory 
"/usr/local/kde/share/apps/krusader" after the "make install"....don't ask me 
why...
The files should be:
-a dir called icons and its contents
-about.png
-konfig_small.jpg
-krusaderui.rc

And btw: If you remove your rpm-installation of krusader, you shouldn't have a 
directory /opt/kde3/share/apps/krusader....
But if I find a little time I will probably make a rpm....:-)
