It's to make it easier on newbies. If you don't want it then go into the preferences and remove it. If you don't want it on the panel remove it as you would any other applet. :)
It's a feature not a bug. :)

Well, I must say that this "feature" is ticking me off! ;o) Ok, I have changed the settings in KBear, remove the icon from Konq's toolbar. KBear opens, systray icon, konq opens, systray icon, please make it go away Ben! :o) I do like the program, but I don't want to see it in my face everytime I turn around.
