I tried upgrading to the new version from the XFree86.org pages. I followed their Install procedure and can get kde to work if I log in and do startx.
Why that? Most stuff is in the lastest SuSE packages. SuSE main mirror: ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/X Read CHANGES.
But my SuSE login window at bootup doesn't come up, just the login: prompt.
What did I break? I can swap back in my old /usr/X11R6 and old /etc/X11 directories, and the login window comes back at bootup. What's missing?
You _NEED_ encryption patches from SuSE source packages... Cheers, Dieter -- Dieter Nützel Graduate Student, Computer Science University of Hamburg Department of Computer Science @home: Dieter.Nuetzel at hamburg.de (replace at with @)
