Unwanted Application Starter Menu Items

For some reason KDE adds some recently started applications (some with very long names) to the top of my application starter menu. I find it somewhat annoying to have "stretched menus". Is there a way I can choose not to have my most recent visited applications to show up on the top of my application starter menu? Is there a way that I can delete the existing add ons? [I've already checked KDE help for clues without success]
