Hi all,
I've bought suse 8.0 and want to upgrade from suse 7.2, and so doing to upgrade to kde 3 from version 2.1.2. The question is: Is there any help literature -or can someone give some guidelines- about how to do it without loosing the configuration of kde and avoiding make a mess with new and old files?.
Thanks, Toni
Toni, I am sure everyone will agree here that doing a new clean install of 8.0 would be your best solution. Sometimes moving from the previous install to the newer one will work, but with problems. Since you are making such a big move, a new install would be best. You could backup your /home directory to CDR if you like and try moving over some of your old settings later, but since there has been so much change from 2.1 to 3.0 KDE, I am not sure I would recommend that either. SuSE 8.0 is a good install and I think you will benefit from doing a fresh installation.
