(?). ::> ::> Thanks, ::> Toni :: ::I had this probem with Suse8. Along with so many others that I had to go ::back to 7.3 . You don't have to fall back to 7.3...but I could suggest doing an update via YOU to get KDE 3.0.1 which fixed quite a problems. Also do this... 1. If your using the default GUI login..we need to turn that off for a few by doing this. A. At the login screen type ctrl+alt+f2 which should get you to a plain login prompt. B. Log in as root and type this .. rcxdm stop .. which will stop GUI login. It will drop you back to console one so just type alt+f2 again to get back to console 2. Then logout of that console and type alt+f1 to be at console 1 again. C. Please log in as yourself. Then do the following. 1. cd /tmp 2. rm -rf kde-<username> ksocket-<username> mcop-<username> 3. cd in your home directory. 4. rm -rf .mcop* and then in .kde you need to remove socket-<your machines name> and tmp-<your machines name> After doing the above just type startx which will of course start X for you...I hate KDM which is what that GUI login is. It's a KDE process and X process and if they "forget WTF they are doing" it can be hell on you. Anyway. Try Konq again and see what happens. This should clear her up. If it doesn't then it may just be a config file that's messed up and since that would take to long to figure out by email tag..do this as yourself in your own home directory after loging back out of KDE. mv .kde KDE-BACK This will move the config directory so that KDE when restarted can write a fresh set of configuration files. If this doesn't fix it. Something else is wrong. Mainly because I have too many people in the office and friends outside of the office running 8.0 and it seems fine. So make sure you follow the above directions and update KDE 3.0.1 which was a big maintence release that fixed a great many things. Cheers! -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
