Start off with something simpler. Install the base rpms (not kde2compat) and
the internationalization rpm that applies to you.
Then the post-installation instructions:
http://mail.bmtsolutions.com/suse_faq/desktops.html#KDE
When you get it working, you can begin to install applications.
