Yes, I know I shouldn't be logged in as root, but I can't login as an
ordinary user at the console, and also start gdm. Once GDM starts I
can login in as my ordinary user profile.
As soon as I can get this fixed to start gdm I will be right.
from console as <user>
sudo rcgdm start
give password for root when requested
and you will have gdm
