Thanks Patrick and Carlos but it seems that a reboot did the trick and I now have TB showing the correct date format. Yesterday I altered the Locale setting in the Language option in the Control Center and I expected this to take immediate effect - but not so; wasn't until I just booted the computer that the date format changed.
