I'm still working on updating the 11.3 docs. Now I'm wondering about
the Gnome PolicyKit implementation. There are at least two packages:
polkit-gnome and PolicyKit-gnome. polkit-gnome seems to be a library or
something similar. PolicyKit-gnome come with
/usr/bin/polkit-gnome-authorization that you can call.

Confusingly enough, it is very different from the KDE config offerings
that you can see with "systemsettings" > "Advanced" > "System
policies". Why are these config option not visible in the Gnome tool?

Gah. Karl sent me this mail privately too because it wasn't reaching the
mailing list, and I replied privately already...

Short summary:
- PolicyKit-gnome is just there for compatibility with old PolicyKit
- right thing is polkit-gnome
- polkit-gnome-authorization should not have been shipped by default
(fixed in Factory)
- I have no idea about the KDE tool
- sysadmins should mostly care about polkit-default-privs
