Hi! I noticed a while back that the hardware tab in gnome-system-monitor, which I found quite useful, has disappeared for 11.3. I thought this was something upstream, but now I see this report https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=582311 and it looks like it was actually an openSUSE patch that was committed upstream in 2009. So if this is not in 11.3 is it because of a bug, or by design and if so is there some simple way to enable it?
It was committed upstream in a branch, which means it's not in the releases. We removed the patch in openSUSE because it made gnome-system-monitor depend on hal, and that didn't make sense. We also try to avoid keeping patches forever if upstream doesn't accept them... FWIW, Kay was mentioning that the information in there was most generally incomplete. So the short story is that's it's gone, and unless someone make it go upstream properly, it won't come back.
