IIRC this was meant to be fixed for 11.1. Does anyone know if there has
in fact been some work in this area or was this delayed to 11.2?

At least on my notebook and 11.1rc1-GNOME it still doesn't work.

vuntz@lyon ~/>rpm -q --changelog gnome-desktop | grep -A3 -B3 -i f7
* mer. sept. 10 2008 federico@xxxxxxxxxx
- Added gnome-desktop-randr-cloned-outputs.diff to provide
infrastructure needed to support switching display output modes on
laptops with the Fn-F7 (XF86Display) hotkey. The actual handling of
the hotkey happens in the gnome-settings-daemon package.

between display output modes on laptop by using the Fn-F7 hotkey
(i.e. XF86Display).

So I guess it's supposed to work. Federico should know -- but file a bug (and
check there's none about this already).
