and put it in ~/.config/menus/ . The run the app browser.

+ I'd really love to use upstream applications.menu for GNOME. It's
much much cleaner. Really. This would make the menu bar and upstream
main menu more usable. But I don't know what's the impact on the
application browser.
The application browser looks ok-ish, but there are way too many icons
in the "Other" category. I think this could be a reasonable thing to do,
