I think so, check it out:
rpm -qa gnome-session
gnome-session-2.20.0-8

I am able to ping my machine name and in my /etc/hosts I have
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.2 magrathea.site magrathea
where "magrathea" is my machine's name. Is that okay? You are saying
that the name should be bound to 0.1 but it's bound to 0.2 here?
