Will,
The error you are seeing EBookStatus 20 means you haven't initialized your evolution data server yet. The latest release of Banter removes the dependency on EDS. For OpenSuse 10.3 we are only supporting GoogleTalk (XMPP Servers) so we didn't need EDS for contact aggregation across IM providers.

If you get the latest release, the error should go away.

Hi folks

In the spirit of cross-desktop collaboration, I've volunteered to join
the -gnome list so that the KDE team knows a little more about what's going
on in your part of the community. I'm joining my colleague Stephan Binner
who's been here for a while. Larry Ewing is going to be making the trip in
the opposite direction.

And so it's not just ambassadorial tea-parties, here's a real question. I
just downloaded and installed Banter, and got the following result when
starting it inside a KDE session - any suggestions?

wstephenson@gorse:/space/kde/sources/4_0/kdelibs> banter
grep: /etc/gre.d/*.conf: No such file or directory
[Debug]: Banter::Application::Init - called

(banter:9757): Gnome-WARNING **: Accessibility: failed to find
module 'libgail-gnome' which is needed to make this application accessible
GTK Accessibility Module initialized

(banter:9757): Gnome-WARNING **: Accessibility: failed to find
module 'libatk-bridge' which is needed to make this application accessible
EBookStatus returned 20

I'm guessing the last line means that there was a problem opening the
evolution address book, right?

cheerio for now
