Feature changed by: Karl Cheng (qantas94heavy) Feature #316601, revision 4 Title: Better Appstore! - openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed + openSUSE Distribution: Duplicate of #310778 + Master status: Done Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: dillon oliviero (dillon101001) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: It would be better to have an app store like Ubuntu software center. + Relations: + - (feature/duplicate: 310778) Discussion: #1: Mário Castanheira (speccyman) (2013-10-09 14:44:23) I think this is a duplicated feature request. Anyway, please check: https://features.opensuse.org/310778 Appstream, however seems a dead end since the project apparently is in *stand-by* whit no date set for release, unfortunately... But i continue saying that opensuse is missing two key features 1) a decent Appstore (Apps based, not package!!!) and 2) an easy way to Upgrade ( https://features.opensuse.org/313441 ) Other Appstore-related software you could keep an eye on: "Software" - If you are in Gnome (already available) "Bodega" - If you are in KDE (currently being developed) "Appstream" - As mention above is in standby (it's a "direct" port from the ubuntu software center) "Apper" - The current Kde appstore "Muon Software Center" - Apper for just Deb based systems (AFAIK) "Listaller" - Not exactly an AppStore but it's a very promising project you should keep an eye on as well (Unfortunately it's kind of on hold as well) #2: Denny Beyer (lumnis) (2013-10-25 14:49:51) I absolutely agree. Making people aware of software to use in an attractive way I see as a must have for end users. See also the Apple App Store, and Canonical's copy of it. With the build service in the background, this could be a huge boost. I wouldn't mind also having commercial, closed source software there. It's the developers and the users choice, we should respect. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/316601
