Feature added by: Michal Marek (michal-m) Feature #317197, revision 1 Title: Move arp, ifconfig, netstat and route to a separate package openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Mandatory Requested by: Michal Marek (michal-m) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: The following programs have been deprecated for several years and have counterparts in the iproute2 package: * arp -> ip [-r] neigh * ifconfig -> ip a * netstat -> ss [-r] * route -> ip r None of our packages needs these programs and they have several limitations that manifest in non-trivial setups (see the list of bugzilla numbers below). The proposal is to create a net-tools-deprecated subpackage, move these binaries there and not install the package by default. Relations: - netstat does not show process names if inode value is larger than signed int (novell/bugzilla/id: 861302) https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=861302 - supportconfig: in network.txt, interface names are truncated to 9 characters (novell/bugzilla/id: 840841) https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=840841 - Move arp, ifconfig, netstat and route to a separate package (feature/copiedfrom: 317196) -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/317197
