Feature changed by: Jiri Srain (jsrain) Feature #312617, revision 8 Title: drop libxcrypt - openSUSE Distribution: Evaluation by project manager + openSUSE Distribution: Evaluation by engineering manager Priority Requester: Important + Projectmanager: Important Requested by: Ludwig Nussel (lnussel) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: libxcrypt is nowadays mostly superfluous as glibc supports sha256 and sha512 itself. blowfish and the gensalt functions can be patched in via crypt_blowfish addon. Needed adjustments: - glibc - pam - pam-modules (pam_unix2) - pwdutils - yast2-core Disadvantage: we currently lose support for bigcrypt. Discussion: #1: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2012-03-15 13:03:43) The work for glibc has been done - hasn't it? #2: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2012-03-15 13:04:20) Ludwig, Thorsten, what kind of work is needed for pam, pam-modules and pwdutils? #3: Thorsten Kukuk (kukuk) (2012-03-15 13:07:26) (reply to #2) Nothing, done since ages. #4: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2012-03-15 13:10:35) (reply to #3) Then let's fix YaST. Jiri, could you get somebody to fix yast2-core (and what else requires libxcrypt), please? + #5: Jiri Srain (jsrain) (2012-03-15 13:16:20) + Lukas, Duncan, can either Martin or Arvin (or someone else) look at it? + This requirement sounds to me very valid. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/312617
