[openFATE 305556] rpm -q --whatrecommends foobar
Feature changed by: Michael Schröder (mlschroe)
Feature #305556, revision 6
Title: rpm -q --whatrecommends foobar

openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Stephan Kulow (coolo)
reject date: 2008-12-11 13:46:45
reject reason: this would be useless for debugging as only half the
cases why a package is installed is known to rpm
Priority
Requester: Desirable

openSUSE Distribution: Evaluation by engineering manager
Priority
Requester: Important

Requested by: Stephan Binner (beineri)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org

Description:
For debugging purporses why a package is installed it would be nice to
have a "--whatrecommends" query option for rpm and not only "--
whatrequires".

Discussion:
#1: Bernhard Wiedemann (bmwiedemann) (2011-01-29 14:14:00)
This would be quite useful. If it can not be done in rpm, maybe zypper
would be an appropriate place.

+ #2: Michael Schröder (mlschroe) (2012-03-06 15:17:19) (reply to #1)
+ I don't think it should be done in rpm, we really don't want another
+ index database.
