In some cases when dictionary servers go offline or internet connection
goes down looking up words becomes difficult. Hence there arises a need
for an offline dictionary GUI and database Suggestion:- I would like
artha and wordnet to be added to the distribution
Even if the inclusion of above is not possible we are open for
inclusion of any other Offline Dictionary/Thesaurus database & GUI
Discussion:
#1: Mustafaa al-Hamdaani (mustafa1987) (2011-04-10 11:12:20)
I agree, dictionaries are very important (especially for non-English
speakers
#2: Ricardo Gabriel Berlasso (rgbsuse) (2011-07-23 20:08:39)
For me, WordNet is a must-to-have tool. Fortunately it have very few
dependencies so I can install the fedora package without problems (I
need to manually create a menu entry, though).
#3: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2011-07-26 11:39:07)
Anybody interested in packaging these?
#4: Atri Bhattacharya (badshah400) (2011-07-29 01:33:29) (reply to #3)
I am currently packaging both artha and wordnet. Wordnet has already
been submitted to the Education obs project for review and artha will
be submitted soon.
#5: Atri Bhattacharya (badshah400) (2011-07-29 18:44:37)
I don't know if the specfic request is to get the two packages artha
and wordnet into the Oss repositories or if any repository would do.
Both packages are now in the Education repo, and I have submitted them
to Factory for review as well. Based on this, the feature may now be
considered done.
+ #6: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2011-08-01 10:22:54) (reply to #5)
+ Thanks a lot Ari! I wonder whether the Education repo is really the
+ right place for them to live, I suggest you double check this.
+ I mark this now as done.
