- Message-id: <feature-307872-11@keeper.suse.de>
Feature changed by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger)
Feature #307872, revision 11
Title: CAcert root certificate as a part of openSUSE
openSUSE Distribution: Evaluation by engineering manager
Priority
Requester: Desirable
- Info Provider: Jaromír Červenka (cervajz)
Requested by: Jaromír Červenka (cervajz)
Partner organization: openSUSE.org
Description:
CAcert (http://www.cacert.org/) is organisation issuing free SSL
certificates for everyone. It could be useful, when root certificate
(http://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=3) will be a standard part of
openSUSE distro. A lot of people and companies
(http://www.cacert.org/stats.php) using their certificates. Some other
Linux/*nix distributions has CAcert root certificate also included
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cacert#Inclusion_status) .
Discussion:
#1: Satoru Matsumoto (heliosreds) (2010-12-20 15:24:29)
Since openSUSE 11.3 has been already released, I've changed the target
pruduct from 11.3 to distribution.
And, please explain how we can implement this feature in our
distribution, if you can.

Valid question. I'm not an expert in this matter, but let me try. The
root key can be retrieved from: http://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=3
And i think that it should be installed in: /etc/ssl/certs
#3: Guanjun He (gjhe) (2010-12-21 05:32:14) (reply to #2)
From openSuSE11.1,we added a new package openssl-certs,which deliver
all certs departed from the original openssl package. And the left work
is to update this package if needed.(And,updating the package
dependency is needed, and I guess this should already been done.)
+ #4: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2011-07-25 15:34:16)
+ Ludwig, is this something to add for ca-certificates?
