Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Louis Gutierrez (louisgtz) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Rather then having so many versions and upgrades (twice per year) allow the operating system to evolve in a non disruptive way; allowing you to apply a service pack rather then a upgrade.Version 10.3 was great, it supported dual monitors and wireless connectivity with Intel wireless cards. 11.0 was not so good, it broke my dual screen and wireless support was not very stable with WPA. 11.1 was back, it supported very well dual screens and WPA worked very well. Now we upgrade to 11.2 and it works very well but the update feature not so dependable. I did the update process and my existing installation became very sluggish, to regain the performance I had to do a clean installation. I used other distributions and on a regular basis I test other distributions and I can tell you that yes, some of the others do a very good update to new versions without problems. I have been using openSUSE since version 10.2 and it has been painful every time there is a upgrade. Yes, I think it is the best distribution for anyone, easy to use and powerful, the best linux desktop distribution. Not being able to evolve with your computer operating system tends to not give you the confidence to keep your valuable data in the computer. The questions that comes up is how long am I going to have this version? When the new version comes out in 8 months I will have to do a new installation again? If we compare it to Microsoft you can keep your data in your computer for several years and the minor upgrades are service packs and yes, mayor upgrades are questionable if your installation, data and programs will survive but at least you are not dealing with it every 8 months. - Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Make openSUSE a viable platform for the long term. Let it evolve in a non-disruptive way, not having to re-install every time there is a minor upgrade. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308358
